Seat Recovering : 1982 Honda Nighthawk CB450SC

Recovering a motorbike seat is a fairly straight forward project, just need to bring a little patience and a few basic tips. On this bike the seat cover was attached using staples, other models may use a different system, but this is probably the most common. From start to finish replacing the seat cover on the CB450 SC took less than an hour.

The original cover with ever-growing tears and split seams.

Remove any metal brackets from under the seat pan, pry up staples and pull out with pliers.

Turn the new cover inside out then begin working the front into place. Once the cover is centered properly put one staple front and back to keep it in place. From there start stapling from the front- pulling both sides of the cover tight- if you need to you can remove one and re-staple. TIP: Heat the cover up by leaving it in the sun or using a hair dryer.

The replacement cover doesn't have the same pattern of the original, but the new one with pleats gives it a dose of classic cool.
